Enrolling Your Child in Our Community-Based Program
Is your child between 6 and 15 years of age? Do you and your child agree that he/she wants and needs a Big? If you answered yes to both questions,
click here to fill out an on-line application. Or contact us to receive an application by mail. To find out more, read on.
A Big Brothers Big Sisters Match Support Specialist will meet with you and your child in order to find the right Big Brother or Big Sister. Your Match Support Specialist will also be in touch with you and your child on a regular basis throughout your child's match.
After enrolling in Big Brothers Big Sisters your child can participate
First Friends. In this program, your child will be invited to monthly outings organized by the agency for all children who are waiting for a Community-Based Big.
Activities include everything from roller-skating to fishing to pumpkin-carving. Transportation is provided by one of our First Friend volunteers.
First Friends is a great way for our Match Support Team to get to know your child.
Volunteer Screening Process
Each Big Brothers Big Sisters volunteer is carefully screened. Our volunteer intake process includes:
- Conducting an in-depth, in-person interview with each potential volunteer
- Running a national criminal background check
- Speaking with at least 3 personal references
- Verifying a valid driver’s license and auto insurance
- Conducting a home assessment
