Info Sessions & Trainings
Information Sessions
At least once each month, we hold Information Sessions that provide potential volunteers an opportunity to learn more
about which of our mentoring programs best fits their interests and lifestyle. At these informal meetings, a potential volunteer can speak directly
with a member of our staff about the various volunteer opportunities available through Big Brothers Big Sisters. Go to our on-line calendar to see where and when
we are holding a session that works with your schedule.
Volunteer Training
required of all volunteers
If you are thinking of becoming a Big, or have already been accepted into a program,
Training Sessions will help you develop a better understanding of:
- The children and families we serve
- What it means to be a mentor to a child and why it works
- The ground rules that will help guide you
- Our Match Support Team’s role in supporting you and your Little
Training sessions are led by our Match Support Specialists and are required of all volunteers. Go to our on-line calendar to see where
and when we are holding a session that works with your schedule.
Big Brothers Big Sisters works closely with parents and guardians to match every child with the right Big. Every volunteer is screened, trained, and supervised,
and our Match Support Specialists work closely with each match to help ensure that the relationship will be safe and rewarding for everyone involved. National research
has shown that the positive relationships between Big Brothers and Big Sisters and their Littles have a direct, measurable, and lasting impact on children’s lives.
